Building A Digital Springboard for Sales Success
The Challenge
American Athletic has been at the heart of most historic events in gymnastics history — including both Olympic Trials and Olympic Games. With a large field sales team, AAI works with gym owners across the country to design optimum gym layouts for both new and remodeled gyms — a process that has largely used pen and paper for five decades. Shift and AAI teamed up to develop a digital sales tool for sales representatives to use while out in the field.

APPROACH
Shift started with a proof of concept phase to determine the viability of leveraging a 3D gaming engine, Unity, to create layout concepts and gym renderings. Shift set out to answer a specific list of questions through the proof of concept phase, and once these were successfully answered, Shift then moved forward to define overall requirements, strategize the user experience and build the initial release of the tool.
The Solution
By using an iOS or Android device or laptop, sales reps can quickly customize a virtual space to match a real gym’s floor plan and architecture and then work with the owner to decide what equipment they want within their gym. Once configured, AAI can easily share the gym blueprint, itemized list and estimate with the client for approval — before even leaving the client’s parking lot. The AAI GymPro tool lessens the likelihood for human error by standardizing and expediting the gym floor plan creation process. Additionally, a VR experience was created to supplement the app, allowing gym owners to "walk around" and get a feel for the newly designed gym concept before renovations begin.
